PALS Renewal Course Description
Safeguard CPR offers the American Heart Association PALS Renewal course for current PALS Providers who need to renew their PALS skills and unexpired PALS Provider course completion card.
PALS is geared towards healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.
The PALS Renewal course uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics.
PALS Renewal Testing and Exam Requirements
- 50 question exam (Must score at least 84%)
- Child CPR and AED Skills Test
- Infant CPR Skills Test
- PALS Case Scenario Test 1- Cardiac
- PALS Case Scenario Test 2- Respiratory or Shock
Mandatory Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work Requirements
- All students must complete the Precourse Self-Assessment and achieve a score of at least 70% before taking the PALS Course.
- Once a student has passed the Precourse Self-Assessment, they will gain access to the Precourse Work video lessons.
- All video lessons must be reviewed before entering the classroom.
- Students must print their successful Precourse Self-Assessment completion certificate and bring it with them to class.
